All of our cabinets and defibrillators come with upto 10 year warranties and indeed many of the defibrillators themselves have ‘self check’ functions but things can go wrong and therefore we like to ensure our equipment is fit for purpose.

What do I need to check?

Cabinet

  • Briefly examine the exterior of the cabinet to ensure there are no signs of damage or wear and tear which might reduce its ability to protect the defibrillator within.
  • When you enter the appropriate keycode using the pad are the keys excessively stiff?
  • Is the handle easy to turn after successfully entering the keypad?
  • Does the door open freely and easily?
  • Does the interior look clean and dry?
  • Where appropriate check the heater and internal light (heater only operates below certain temperature and only provides minimal output to sustain life of defibrillator battery)

iPAD Defibrillator

  • Does the case appear undamaged?
  • Check all the appropriate indicators, are they normal?

Cardiac Science G3 Defibrillator

  • Does the case appear undamaged?
  • Check all the appropriate indicators, are they normal?

Cardiac Science G5 Defibrillator

  • Does the case appear undamaged?
  • Check all the appropriate indicators, are they normal?

Heartsine Defibrillator

  • Does the case appear undamaged?
  • Check all the appropriate indicators, are they normal?

Other

Where relevant, and if possible, check that the external green dusk til dawn light is working. Is the wall mounted sign still in place and in good condition. Is the PIR security light in position and working.

If you have any doubts, make some notes and submit with your report – you might wish to take photos with your camera/mobile to email to us in case we need to see the issue without making a specific trip to the cabinet location.

In the case of theft or damage which you believe results in the cabinet or defibrillator being unusable please submit your report immediately detailing the issue and then call Dougie McEwan on 07783 668351.
